While some plastics are able to be reused, everyday Americans often attempt to recycle specialized plastics such as plastic film and plastic bags, small plastics, and mixed plastics. When recycling plastic bottles, it is important to note that the film label on the bottle, the bottle cap, and the bottle itself are all separate types of plastic. In most cases, only the plastic bottle is recyclable.
Contaminated Cardboard and Paper Beyond the obvious contamination that food waste poses, if cardboard or paper sent for recycling has previously been thoroughly wet or left in the rain, the recycling market for these materials disappears.
